SE 2050 Database Update: Data Migration Permission Form and User Accounts

The window to migrate your data from the SE 2050 beta database has now closed.  SEI is actively migrating the data for those firms that elected to migrate their data to the new database.  The projects will be migrated as Draft projects and signatory firms will need to review the data, make adjustments as necessary, and submit the project before it is active in the new database.

Please note: if you wish to use the new SE 2050 database, you will need to create a new account.

In response to user feedback from firms participating in the SE 2050 movement, insights from the SE 2050 Commitment Program 2023 Data Analysis and Findings Report, and the need to improve the quality of data collected to align with the ever-evolving landscape of embodied carbon reporting, SE 2050 is excited to launch a new database during the week of October 1st! Several key improvements, including:

• Improved user interface with expanded data visualization
• Project creation wizard allowing users to step through uploading their project data
• Interaction of the SE 2050 ECOM tool
• Alignment with the ASCE Prestandard for Assessing the Embodied Carbon of Structural Systems for Buildings.

The updated database requires the input of structural material quantities (SMQs) for new projects entered into the database. For additional information on the new database and answers to other frequently asked questions, read through the New SE 2050 Database Launch Announcement. SE 2050 would like to thank and acknowledge ClimateWorks Foundation for its support in developing the new database.

The SE 2050 Database is a central repository for firms participating in the SE 2050 Commitment Program to submit structural embodied carbon (global warming potential) data. The data submitted to the SE 2050 Database will be used to inform industry benchmarks and targets, ultimately working towards net zero embodied carbon by 2050.

If you are a member of an SE 2050 Signatory Firm, click Report Your Data to create a user account and access the database.

Notes on user account creation:

• Access to the database is limited to members of SE 2050 Commitment Program Signatory Firms.
• Upon creating an account, a notification will be sent to the Firm Admin for your company. The Firm Admin must activate your account before you will be able to log in.
• If your password is not accepted when creating an account, try changing the special character(s) used. Email database@se2050.org if the problem persists.

SE 2050 Taxonomy of Structural Material Quantities (NEW!)

• Provides a standardized framework for organizing structural assemblies in embodied carbon reporting. The SE 2050 Database collects a targeted set of assemblies from this taxonomy, grouped into nine intuitive categories that reflect how structural engineers define building systems. By aligning with the taxonomy, the database ensures clarity, consistency, and industry-wide interoperability.
• Aligns with established classification systems such as OmniClass and UniFormat II, promoting compatibility across project workflows and improving comparability and consistency within the AEC industry.
• Uses unique identifiers that build on existing OmniClass Table 21 codes, enabling integration with structural engineering firms internal project workflows, Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms and publicly available embodied carbon tools.

SE 2050 Project Import Spreadsheet (updated October 1, 2025)

Note to database users: The spreadsheet above has been updated and matches the spreadsheet that can be downloaded directly from the database.  This spreadsheet no longer contains a macro, but now includes a second tab to input Structural Material Quantities.  You may need to follow a few short steps to allow file editing – see Appendix D of the SE 2050 Database User Guide linked above.

Prestandard for Assessing the Embodied Carbon of Structural Systems for Buildings

• Provides guidance on how materials should be quantified during building design and construction
• Provides guidance on how embodied carbon should be calculated and reported
• Defines rules of comparison for structural systems based on embodied carbon

Designated Organizations are organizations identified to manage the aggregation of data after identifying information has been removed. For more information, refer to the User Agreement.

There are currently no Designated Organizations. This page will identify the organizations once they are selected.
